In 1990, Robert Frank donated all of his negatives, contact prints, and original exhibition prints to the National Gallery of Art in Washington.

"The Americans, 81 Contact Sheets" uses the National Gallery's originals as the plates and reproduces Frank's contact prints using the finest printing techniques.

Normally, this book was only available to those who purchased other photo books from Muramotosha, but this time, it will be available for special sale as a standalone book.
